Human societies have always been looking for a way to replace lost or damaged teeth. Metals are considered due to their desirable mechanical strength in this field, but their use has been limited due to their aesthetic appearance. Technological advances in the field of dental production have revolutionized the production of metal-free dental restorations. With the increasing popularity of dental ceramics among people, various types of them are produced and used. Considering the diverse fields in bioceramics and restorative dentistry, in the selection section related to this group of dental ceramics, two important factors should be considered: the strength of dental ceramics and its aesthetic appearance. Dental ceramics are considered good when, in addition to having a beautiful and natural appearance, they have greater strength and resistance. The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the different types of ceramic materials used in dental applications and to compare their characteristics.
