The dual-phase Ti-6Al-4V alloy is widely used in advanced industries and medical devices owing to its favorable mechanical properties and biocompatibility; however, the electrochemical stability of its naturally formed oxide layer is limited in chloride-containing environments. This study investigated the effects of pre-annealing temperature and duration on the substrate microstructure, the morphology of nanoporous TiO2 coatings produced by anodization, and their corrosion behavior. The specimens were annealed under an argon atmosphere at 500, 600, and 700 °C for 1, 2, and 3 h. Subsequently, anodic coatings were synthesized in an ethylene glycol-based electrolyte containing ammonium fluoride (NH4F) at a constant voltage of 30 V for 90 min. The microstructure and morphology of the coatings were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), while their corrosion behavior was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization in a 3.5 wt. % NaCl solution. Among the specimens investigated, the specimen annealed at 500 °C for 2 h exhibited the lowest measured corrosion current density (Icorr) and the most positive corrosion potential (Ecorr).
